It is an inevitable fact that the cinema has an influence on the day to day lives of everyone either in a direct or in an indirect way. But the kind of influence, say whether it may be in a positive or negative manner totally depends on the kind of cinema (genre) and the state-of-mind of the individual who watches it. The current review primarily focuses on the criminological aspects of the impact of cinema in the daily lives of people i.e., how films/tv shows psychologically influences people and how filmmakers are inspired from the real-life crimes to create movies/tv shows as well as how cinema inspires people to commit crimes in real life on the other hand. Furthermore, it discusses notable films that have contributed to positive societal changes, including legislative reforms and offers recommendations for responsible film making to minimize adverse impacts.
